AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — Amarillo area law enforcement paid tribute to the brave men and women from the Amarillo area who lost their lives in the line of duty.
The ceremony was at 11 a.m. at Llano Cemetery.

During the ceremony, Interim Amarillo Police Chief Jimmy Johnson said 165 officers were killed in the line of duty across the country. Another 25 have been killed in 2025.
In Texas, 19 officers were killed in 2024. Four have already been killed in 2024.
There was a wreath-laying ceremony.
Members of the Amarillo Police Department, Amarillo College Police Department, Potter County Sheriff's Office, Texas Department of Public Safety, and West Texas A&M University Police Department also read the names of their officers who have died in the line of duty.
