ABILENE, SWEETWATER, Texas - A Texas family is mourning the loss of their loved one who died after a bee attack.
Police say the man was mowing the lawn when he encountered the hive.
A young neighbor saw him struggling to fight off the bees and called 9-1-1.
She recounts the terrifying moment with Caitlin Leggett.
An Eastland police report revealed that Stephen Daniel was mowing the lawn near an abandoned structure beside Friendship Park when he disturbed a large beehive.
The bees then swarmed, following him into his vehicle, where he began trying to escape but ended up in Chrishae Cooper's family yard on North Lamar Street.
Cooper says she asked if he was ok and he responded no.
Shortly after, police raced to the scene to attempt to help.
Daniel was taken to Eastland Memorial Hospital, where he later died from circulatory collapse due to bee stings. We reached out to a family member but have not yet received a response.
The good Samaritan was glad she could help, but wished things had ended differently.
A beekeeper has removed the hive from the property.
