Campers were flipped over and debris was thrown about as severe storms pushed through an Allegan County campground Thursday night.

The owner of Schnable Lake Family Campground told News Channel 3 that no people were seriously hurt due to the storms.

"Storms go through, but normally just a little hail damage," Owner Kathy Rex said. "It seems like it usually goes below us or above us."

However, at least one family had to be rescued from their camper after strong winds caused their trailer to roll over, according to Rex.

Dennis Clark told News Channel 3 he was in the camper with some family members when the storm rolled through.

"It was like a war zone," he said. "It looks like someone dropped a bomb and just blew everything apart."

Most of the family had to escape through a window, according to Clark, who said that he's thankful this wasn't worse.

"I've got a little scratch on my head, my wife has some bruises, my granddaughter is fine and my daughter is fine," Clark said. "So, we're blessed."

As of Friday morning, various crews are out at the campground assisting with cleanup efforts, according to News Channel 3 crews on scene.
