ALVIN, Texas — Police in a town south of Houston are searching for those responsible in the burning of dozens of bee hive boxes.
In a Facebook post, the Brazoria County Beekeepers Association said someone burned the BCBA Bee Yard, killing more than 500,000 bees.
The club says one of the brood frames was thrown into the pond with bees still caring for it.
Brazoria County Crime Stoppers, along with the Brazoria County Sheriff's Office, are also looking for the suspect or suspects in relation to the arson case.
They say the crime happened in the early morning hours of April 27 and the fire was taken out quickly, but the damage was already done.
A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered through crime stoppers.
The club itself has also offered a reward of $1,000 for tips leading to an arrest in the crime.
