ABILENE, Texas — A beehive of activity in downtown Abilene for the second day in a row.
Crews are working to remove bees and bats from The Windsor building.
A huge bee hive is attached to the facade at the top of the building, 10 stories above N 4th Street.
A crane raised workers wearing bee suits up to the hive.
The bees are swarming.
Once they remove it, crews will have to deal with bats found in the stairwell.
Crews will seal all the holes, cracks and crevices in the facade to keep bats out.
Then they'll install a "bat funnel." When the bats fly out at night, the funnel will keep them from flying back in.
Thursday, the Abilene Reporter-News building just a few blocks away burned for several hours.
KTXS News spoke to the company who handled the bee removal, who said that the bees were relocated to south Abilene.
The owner of the company also said that they do not "take extreme measures" unless the bees are Africanized, which was not the case in this instance.
