HOUSTON - A disabled man is lucky to be alive after a passerby jumped into action and pulled the man out of a burning home.
The fire started around 11 p.m. at a home off Buffum Street and Sunnydale Drive on Houston's South Side.
Houston Fire Department officials said a man was walking by when he saw smoke coming from a bedroom window. He broke out the window and he, along with a few other people. helped pull the disabled man from the home.
Fire officials said that if it hadn't been for the quick action from the Good Samaritans, the man might not have survived. They said the fire stated in the man's bedroom.
The victim was rushed to the hospital with burns over 90% of his body.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
