AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — The City of Amarillo has unveiled a new website dedicated to providing current and comprehensive data on the city's playa lakes.
The COA Playa Lake Level Monitoring site offers extensive information for eight playa lakes, including Bennett Lake, Lawrence Lake, Martin Lake, McCarty Lake, McDonald Lake, Playa 7, T-Anchor Lake, and Willow Grove Lake.
The site can be accessed at amarillotx.elements360.aem.eco.
"We wanted to provide accurate, thorough, and up-to-date information regarding city playa lakes that can be shared with the public," said Alan Harder, the COA Director of Public Works. "There is so much information available on the dashboards, and we encourage the Amarillo community to use this new site as a valuable resource."
The COA Drainage Utility Division has installed monitoring stations to track the current levels of the playa lakes, which are updated every 15 minutes. These stations also feature rain gauges and cameras, allowing residents to view hourly photos of each lake and access current and historical rainfall data.
