Authorities reported that the girl was walking home from school with her sister on Monday when they attempted to cross a bridge. As they crossed, the water rapidly rose around them, sweeping one of the girls away.
Fire officials said a neighbor attempted to rescue the girl by jumping into the water and grabbing her, but the powerful current pulled her away.
