Amarillo Sod Poodles infielder Tommy Troy has been named the Texas League Player of the Week for April 7-13, Minor League Baseball announced. Troy, rated as the Diamondbacks' number eight prospect by MLB Pipeline, showcased his talent in a recent home series against the Springfield Cardinals.

In six games at HODGETOWN, Troy started all six, playing second base in five and serving as the designated hitter on Sunday. He batted .524, going 11-for-21, and reached base 22 times in 32 plate appearances. Troy led the league in runs (10), walks (10), and on-base percentage (.688). He also ranked second in OPS (1.498), tied for second in doubles (3), third in batting average (.524), and fifth in slugging percentage (.810).

Troy, a recent call-up for the Sod Poodles' Opening Day roster, hit his first Double-A home run on April 9 against Cardinals pitcher Nathanael Heredia. That night, he went 3-for-5, scored two runs, drove in two, and walked once.

On April 12, he recorded the first four-hit game of the year for the Sod Poodles, scoring three runs and hitting two doubles in a 15-3 victory. He continued his scoring streak with three more runs in the series finale on April 13.

Troy is the first Sod Poodle to earn the Player of the Week honor since A.J. Vukovich in August 2024. Troy currently holds a five-game hit streak and has reached base safely in eight consecutive games since April 5. He also has the longest active run streak in the Texas League, scoring in five straight games.

The Sod Poodles will face the Frisco RoughRiders in a six-game series starting tomorrow night, with a 6:35 p.m. first pitch. They will return to HODGETOWN next week to play the San Antonio Missions, beginning April 22.
