Amarillo Sod Poodles announce 2025 Opening Day roster with top prospects, familiar faces

AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — The Amarillo Sod Poodles, the Arizona Diamondbacks Double-A affiliate, have unveiled their Opening Day roster for the 2025 season.

The team is set to kick off the season tonight in San Antonio, featuring a blend of seasoned players and promising young talent.

Among the 26 players on Amarillo's active roster, six are ranked among Arizona's Top 30 prospects, according to MLB Pipeline. These top prospects include Tommy Troy (#8), LuJames Groover (#10), Spencer Giesting (#18), Dylan Ray (#20), Gavin Conticello (#24), and Roman Angelo (#26).

Sod Poodles fans will recognize 15 returning players from previous seasons.

Fans can catch the season opener tonight at 7:05 p.m., streaming live on 102.9 FM Panhandle Sports Star and MiLB.TV. The Sod Poodles will make their home debut at HODGETOWN on Tuesday, April 8, against the Springfield Cardinals, with a post-game fireworks show planned.
